“Japan + Central Asia” Dialogue was held in Tokyo

On November 26-27, 2018, the 13th meeting of the senior officials of the countries participating in the “Japan + Central Asia” dialogue was held in Tokyo.

During the meeting, issues of mutually beneficial bilateral and regional cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and Japan were considered. In particular, an exchange of views took place on interaction in such areas as tourism, transport and logistics, agriculture and water management, trade and economics, regional cooperation and security.

Also at the meeting there was a discussion of issues of cooperation of states in the international arena. The parties commended the relations with the United Nations and agreed to further expand these relations.

In addition, during the meeting, organizational issues and the draft of the Joint Statement of the 7th meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the countries of Central Asia and Japan were discussed, which is scheduled to be held on December 15-16 this year in Dushanbe.

On the second day of the 13th meeting of senior officials, the heads of the delegations were received by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan for Parliamentary Affairs, Kenji Yamada. During the meeting, the Japanese side gave a positive assessment of regional cooperation and, in particular, bilateral relations with Turkmenistan.
