Russian spaceman, Hero of the Russian Federation and Chevalier of the order of Turkmenistan «Prezidentiň Ýyldyzy», a native of Turkmenistan Oleg Kononenko, who at present leads the mission at the International Space Station addressed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Congratulating Turkmen leader and all Turkmen citizens on New year, the spacemen said that it is great honour for him to demonstrate the flag of Turkmenistan and book of the Head of the State “Turkmenistan – the Heart of the Great Silk Road” from board of the ISS. He took them on purpose with him to another space expedition, which has started on December 3, 2018 as a symbol of great respect to his homeland and policy of peace, creativity and prosperity pursued by Turkmen leader.
The spaceman also noted that he has special feelings to the country where he was born and grew up and proud of the achievements of the country.
Addressing President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Oleg Kononenko highlighted that the book symbolize universal recognition of the achievements of the country made this year, which was held under slogan “Turkmenistan – the Heart of the Great Silk Road” from the space.
Our countryman expressed the confidence that space programme of Turkmenistan, which has started several years ago, would continue its development and after some time other our compatriots would enter the rank of spacemen glorifying their Motherland.
