Education system is one of the largest and developed sectors of social infrastructure in Turkmenistan. The country has greatly succeeded in realizing the objective of each individual’s right to education. In the Prosperous Epoch of Powerful State, changes and transformations in the education system are the most important branch of Turkmenistan’s policy and it advances under the leadership of our Esteemed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In Turkmenistan, higher and secondary educational system is improved at a great pace, secondary and higher educational institutions train highly qualified specialists in all branches of economy (The education, science, healthcare and sports spheres of Turkmenistan, 2020) (Turkmenistan State Publishing center, 2020).
In Turkmenistan, the education system is increasingly improving in order to accomplish the goals of national education system. In the national education system, the new concept, digitization system is introduced for the purpose of enhancing the quality of education system and go along with the international education standard. Therefore, implementation of digitalization process has been requiring the employees who are well trained in their specific area and have capability to apply digital implementations into their workplaces.
Following the targets of digitalization system of Turkmenistan, there was held online capacity building workshop for EMIS (Education Management Information System) “Problems of developing the information management system of education” organized by the Ministry Education of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on October 18-19, 2021. Professors and teachers of higher education establishments took part to the online seminar and have exchanged their ideas about the challenges and problems of developing information management system of education.
The main objectives of the online seminar were reimagining the emerging needs of EMIS in light of pandemic period, sharing some of the best national practices in the region on EMIS, creation a forum for discussion on how EIMS can benefit Turkmenistan in its efforts towards the achievement of SDG4 particularly in the context of new normal and how UNESCO can support national efforts in implementation of opportunities of EIMS. In the online seminar, international experts, education officials involved in collection and analysis of data and as well as statistics officials who focus on education data gave speech about the experience of creating an information management system for education. Moreover, the international experts and education and statistics officials provided key findings in support of the development of EMIS in Turkmenistan.
