UN Secretary-General Arrives in Turkmenistan to Discuss Global Issues

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

At Turkmenbashi International Airport, the distinguished guest was welcomed by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who expressed his gratitude for the visit and emphasized the symbolic significance of holding the forum in the year marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.

António Guterres highlighted the importance of the conference as a platform for addressing current global challenges and praised Turkmenistan’s commitment to harmonious development and international dialogue.

Participants of the forum will discuss ways to enhance the economic potential of landlocked countries, develop transport corridors, expand international cooperation, and implement the Sustainable Development Goals. Agreements are expected to be signed, and joint projects launched in the field of transport and logistics.

The conference aims to boost trade and economic ties, improve access for developing countries to global markets, and support their integration into the world economy.

The forum will be an important step in the development of transport diplomacy and the promotion of international partnerships at the continental level.
