Turkmenistan participated 73rd World Health Assembly

On May 18-19, 2020, the 73rd World Health Assembly took place in a video conference format.

The session was attended by ministers and deputy ministers of health of WHO Member States, leaders and representatives of the WHO system. At the event, the Turkmen side was represented by the Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva.

At the opening of the meeting, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made a speech. Wishing all participants fruitful work during this session, he noted the importance of cooperation and solidarity of countries in the current pandemic.

Speaking at the event, the Turkmen representatives spoke about the activities of the healthcare system in Turkmenistan, its consistent improvement taking into account international standards, as well as challenges and threats.

The initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan and the implementation of preventive measures in view of the epidemiological situation in the world were also announced. Turkmenistan’s commitment to further collaboration with WHO was noted, including the introduction of programs and initiatives aimed at promoting and protecting the health of all mankind.
