Turkmenistan and the UN continue Active Dialogue

On the 9th of April 2020, a meeting with the heads and representatives of the agencies and specialized structures of the United Nations accredited in Turkmenistan was held in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, UN Resident Coordinator, Heads of the UNICEF, WHO in Turkmenistan, as well as the representatives of the UNDP and UNFPA in Turkmenistan participated to the meeting.  The session was held in the setting of constructive dialogue providing for the exchange of views.

The results of the joint work performed during the first quarter of 2020 were looked upon, as well as the perspectives of cooperation for the upcoming period including the implementation of common plans and programmes were discussed.  Stating the strategic character of collaboration, the heads and representatives of the UN agencies expressed gratitude to the Government of Turkmenistan for continued assistance.

In view of significance of priority vectors of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN structures, the issues of collaboration in various spheres were discussed.  Noting the coordinated mechanism of partnership of Turkmenistan with the UN, the parties identified a number of documents which serve as a base for practical work.

In particular the importance of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework between the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations for 2021-2025 signed on the 14th of March of 2020 was stated.
