The President of Turkmenistan received the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States

On September 5, 2022, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Baghdad Amreyev.

During the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the key vector of our country’s foreign policy, based on the principles of peacefulness and permanent neutrality, twice enshrined in resolutions of the UN General Assembly, is the development of friendly relations and constructive partnership, both in bilateral and multilateral formats, through authoritative international and regional organizations.

In this regard, much attention is paid to cooperation with the Organization of Turkic States, which Turkmenistan joined in November 2021 as an observer, confirming its desire to build mutually beneficial ties.

In continuation of the meeting, an interested exchange of views took place on the prospects for cooperation, taking into account its solid potential in various fields. In this context, it was noted that in the light of modern realities, the coordination of efforts and the implementation of joint projects in such strategic areas as energy, the transport and communications sector and infrastructure are seen as relevant. Good opportunities for interaction are also opening up taking into account the Turkic investment fund being created in the structure of the Organization.

It was noted that the expansion of the range of programs and projects in the field of education, science and culture and, in general, fruitful contacts in this direction will serve to successfully promote mutually beneficial interstate partnership, filling it with new specific content.

In continuation of the conversation, the topic of preparation for the next Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, scheduled for November this year, was touched upon.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and his guest expressed confidence that constructive cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Organization of Turkic States would continue to develop dynamically for the common good, contributing to the strengthening of a trusting dialogue, traditionally friendly and fraternal relations between countries and peoples.
