On May 16, 2022, an online meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh.
At the beginning of the meeting, Rashid Meredov expressed deep condolences to the Emirati side on the death of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the talks, the high level of confidential dialogue between the top leadership of the two countries was emphasized. It was especially noted that high-level contacts are of paramount importance in the further promotion of interstate relations. The parties also discussed constructive interaction within the framework of international organizations, primarily the UN, and spoke in favor of continuing partnership in the implementation of peace-loving initiatives.
The diplomats reaffirmed the importance of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries, including holding regular political consultations.
Trade and economic relations between the two countries were discussed in detail. The interest of both countries was expressed in expanding the range of cooperation between public and private structures, improving the investment climate.
In this regard, the parties considered issues related to the preparation for the next meeting of the Joint Committee on Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates. The diplomats expressed hope that this meeting will further deepen bilateral relations, in particular in the field of textile industry, investment, oil and gas sector, energy, environmental and food security, education, science and culture.
