The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Slovenia attended a New Year’s reception organized for the diplomatic corps

On January 19, 2026, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Slovenia (with residence in Moscow) Esen Aydogdyyev took part in a reception on behalf of the President of the Republic of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar and Prime Minister Robert Golob, organized for the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Slovenia on the occasion of the New Year.

The Ambassador conveyed New Year’s greetings from the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Slovenian leadership and confirmed the Turkmen side’s intention to develop cooperation in various fields in the interests of the two friendly peoples and states.

Having expressed gratitude for the warm words, the leaders of the Republic of Slovenia in turn addressed New Year’s greetings and best wishes to the esteemed President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.

During his visit to Ljubljana, the Ambassador also met with Melita Gabrič, State Secretary for Multilateral Affairs, Political Affairs, and Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.

During the meeting, current issues of bilateral Turkmen-Slovenian cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural spheres were discussed, and priority areas for further joint activities were identified.

The parties discussed organizing reciprocal visits, intensifying the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, and reviewing and improving the legal framework for Turkmen-Slovenian relations.

Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening cooperation in trade and economic matters, where significant potential for joint work exists. In this context, the parties agreed to maintain regular working contacts.

An exchange of views took place on current aspects of the regional and international agenda. The diplomats emphasized the constructive work of states in multilateral formats, particularly within the UN, whereby the parties provide mutual support for proposed international initiatives and endeavors.
