Speaker of the Parliament of Turkmenistan attended the Central Asia Forum

Central Asian Forum: “The Role of Women in Fostering Peace, Trust and Security”, organized on high level by the Government of Turkmenistan and the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe had been held in videoconferencing format.

The high forum was attended by the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Minister of Foreign affairs of Sweden Ann Linde, OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid, and other high-ranking members of the parliaments of the countries and international organizations. The delegation of Turkmenistan at the Forum was headed by the Chairwoman of the Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan G.Mammedova.

During the meeting, there was the constructive exchange of views on promoting gender equality including the ensuring of the legal rights of women which is among the pressing issues of the present time.

As the head of Turkmen Parliament mentioned in her speech, the fundamental environment for the realization of women rights has been created in the country. In this context, the significance of the second National Plan of Actions on Gender Equality in Turkmenistan for the period of 2021-2025 adopted in December 2020 was underlined.
