Ozbek delegation visits to Turkmenistan

The Uzbek delegation headed by the Deputy Prime-Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov arrived to Turkmenistan on a working visit.

During the visit, the meeting of S.Umurzakov with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was held. The sides noted with satisfaction the high dynamics of the development of interstate ties that are strengthening on the basis of trustful political dialogue on the highest state level.

During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of key directions of bilateral cooperation, primarily of trade-economic nature.  The opportunities of expanding the partnership in the area of transport, fuel and energy, as well as in the other spheres posing mutual interest were considered.  It was stated that Uzbekistan stands as one of the primary trade partners of Turkmenistan.

Underlining the importance of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission on Trade-Economic, Scientific-Technical and Cultural Cooperation, the parties spoke for the organization of a consultation between the co-chairmen of the given Commission in the framework of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia planned to take place in the coming days in Turkmenistan.

Reiterating the interest in further strengthening of Turkmen-Uzbek relations, the sides noted the necessity of organizing the regular meetings between the representatives of profile ministers and agencies for the implementation of practical cooperation.  The importance of widening the contacts between the business circles of two countries was stated.

Today, the meeting of Sardor Umurzakov with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov also took place.

During the talk, the parties underlined the need to expand further the Turkmen-Uzbek relations in political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

The parties noted the necessity of upcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia; in the framework of which bilateral meetings and events of cultural scope are planned to take place that reflect the mutual intent of two states to develop cooperation on a wide spectrum.  The legal-contractual basis of cooperation was analyzed.

The opportunities for intensifying the transport-transit communication between the two countries, strengthening the energy and industrial cooperation, including the petrochemical industry were considered.  In this context, the importance of available bilateral mechanisms of cooperation, including the “Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan” Business Council was emphasized.

The parties agreed to continue active dialogue aimed at further development of Turkmen-Uzbek relations.

In the framework of the visit, the Deputy Prime-Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov has also met with the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers Ch.Gylydjev and E.Orazgeldiyev and discussed the issues of expanding cooperation in the area of trade, textile industry and agriculture.
