On September 11, 2024, the opening ceremony of the Magtymguli Fragi Auditorium was held at Sokhumi State University in Tbilisi to mark the 300th Anniversary of the great Turkmen poet. The presentation of the auditorium was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia with the active assistance of Sokhumi State University.
The event was attended by the Turkmen delegation, as well as faculty and students of the university.
Addressing the audience, Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Georgia D. Seyitmammedov noted that the cultural and humanitarian sphere is an integral component of the modern Turkmen-Georgian interstate dialog. The role and importance of cultural dialog is growing in today’s world. It is an intellectual platform that contributes to strengthening relations between countries based on mutual respect, equality and openness.
The representatives of the Turkmen delegation emphasized that the works of the wise Fragi, calling for humanism, purity and unity, are an invaluable asset of all humanity. His poetry, translated into dozens of languages, echoes in the hearts of millions of readers around the world.
The Rector of Sokhumi State University Z. Khonelidze expressed confidence that the opening of the Magtymguli Auditorium will contribute to wider familiarization of the Georgian public with the works of Magtymguli Fragi, Turkmen history, culture and traditions, as well as strengthening the fruitful humanitarian dialogue, relations of friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
At the end of the event, Turkmen folk melodies were played by Turkmen artists.
