Online meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyz Republic

A meeting via videoconferencing was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev.

During the meeting, the Ministers discussed the key aspects of Turkmen-Kyrgyz relations in political-diplomatic field, as well as in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian dimensions. Special emphasis was made on the arrangement of the visits on the highest level in the current year.

The necessity of activating political consultations between the external policy agencies of Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic was stated. The parties noted the closeness of positions of two countries on regional and international issues. The cooperation in the framework of the UN, ECO, CIS and others was discussed.

The Ministers also discussed the trade-economic ties between the two countries, including the opportunities of holding expert meetings for their intensification. The perspectives of cooperation in the area of energy, transport and agriculture were considered. In this context, the expediency of holding regular sessions of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kyrgyz Commission on Trade-Economic, Scientific-Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation was underlined.

Also, the issues of developing cultural-humanitarian ties were discussed.  The efficiency of the contacts in the area of education, culture and sport was noted. In this regard, the possibilities of organizing such in the present year were considered.
