On July 9, 2020, an online meeting of parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group of Turkmenistan and Romania took place. The delegation included the Chairpersons of the Turkmen-Romanian and Romanian-Turkmen Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Groups represented by the Chairperson of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of Romania and the Chairperson of the Committee for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, as well as other members of parliaments of the two countries.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues relating to the activities of the parliaments of the two friendly countries. During the meeting, parliamentarians reaffirmed the orientation of the parties to maintain and develop mutually beneficial cooperation in all priority areas of mutual interest.
A constructive exchange of views also took place on expanding multifaceted cooperation in the political and cultural fields, the exchange of knowledge and practice with a view to further developing bilateral inter-parliamentary relations.
In view of the pandemic situation on a global scale, the interlocutors paid special attention to the resumption of regular contacts between parliamentarians of Turkmenistan and Romania in online format.
