“European Union – Сentral Asia” environment cooperation

On April 16, 2020, a meeting was held in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in the form of a video conference with the regional leadership of the WECOOP project “European Union – Central Asia: Water and Environment Cooperation Platform.”

The Turkmen side was represented by specialists from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, as well as the State Committee for Water Management.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of measures on the proposals of Turkmenistan: including the preparation of normative acts to the laws of Turkmenistan “On Waste,” “On Air Protection,” “On Environmental Expertise,” development of the forest cadaster of Turkmenistan using international best practices, as well as the organization of targeted training seminars for employees of the Hydrometeorology Service.

In addition, joint projects and activities in the field of sustainable water resources management were discussed.
