Scientific cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan was discussed in Ashgabat

President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Isa Habibbeyli, participated in the international scientific conference entitled “Science, Technology and Innovative Technologies in the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State”, dedicated to Turkmenistan’s Science Day and held in Ashgabat.

The event, organized by the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, brought together heads and delegations of scientific institutions from Türkiye, China, Russia, Italy, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Belarus, and several other countries.

At the plenary session of the conference, Academician Isa Habibbeyli delivered a presentation entitled “Scientific Relations Between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in the Context of the First Congress of Turkology.”

In his presentation, he highlighted the active participation of representatives from brotherly Turkmenistan in the First Congress of Turkology, held in Baku in 1926 and devoted to the comprehensive study of the language, literature, culture, and social thought of Turkic peoples sharing common historical roots. He also emphasized their support for the transition to a common Latin alphabet.

It was further noted that the reciprocal visits of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, the official meetings held, and the documents signed demonstrate the continuous expansion of bilateral relations in the modern era.

The speaker also underlined the importance of scientific events held in this field, particularly the research conducted in Azerbaijan on the literary heritage of the prominent Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy, the publication of related books, and the contribution of the Magtymguly Pyragy Center operating at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences to the development of scientific cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

In addition, it was noted that the research carried out by Turkmen scholars on the life and works of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi, as well as the translation and publication of his works into the Turkmen language, have made a significant contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries.

During the visit, President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, also visited the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan and paid tribute to the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Furthermore, he presented a collection of books published by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences to the newly established Azerbaijan Corner at the National Library of Turkmenistan.
