“Dostlug” oil tanker, presented by Azerbaijan as a gift to Turkmenistan

On June 22, an online ceremony marking the presentation of the “Dostlug” oil tanker as a gift was held with the participation of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The “Dostlug” oil tanker, presented by Azerbaijan as a gift to Turkmenistan, was built at the Baku Shipyard.

The tanker has an overall length of 141 metres, a beam of 16.9 metres, and a draught of 4.54 metres. With a deadweight of 7,875 tonnes, the vessel not only demonstrates the development of Azerbaijan’s shipbuilding industry but also contributes to strengthening friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

The project also once again confirms the capability of the Baku Shipyard to implement large-scale and technologically sophisticated shipbuilding projects.

To date, the shipyard has successfully completed the construction of 14 vessels and carried out repair projects on more than 170 ships.

At present, construction is underway on 11 of the 17 vessels included in the shipyard’s order portfolio, while the remaining six vessels are at the design stage.
