On 22 June, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of the relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, which are based on friendship, brotherhood and mutual respect. They emphasised that reciprocal high-level visits and political dialogue have significantly contributed to the expansion of bilateral cooperation.
The ministers exchanged views on opportunities to develop further cooperation in the fields of trade and economy, energy, transport and transit, logistics, shipping, humanitarian affairs and culture. In this context, they underlined the importance of strengthening regional connectivity and making more effective use of the potential of the Middle Corridor.
The meeting also reviewed issues of cooperation within international and regional organizations. The parties stressed the importance of continuing mutual support and cooperation within the United Nations and other multilateral platforms.
The ministers also exchanged views on other regional and international issues of mutual interest. They reaffirmed their intention to continue joint efforts to further develop Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan relations in the spirit of mutual benefit and strategic partnership.
