Turkmenistan and Iran discussed issues of expanding economic cooperation

On May 23, 2022, on the sidelines of the session held in Tehran on reforms and prospects for cooperation in the region of the Economic Cooperation Organization, a meeting was held between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan V. Hajiyev and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mehdi Safari.

During the talks, the parties discussed the expansion of economic cooperation, primarily in the fields of energy, transport and transit.

V. Hajiyev spoke in favor of increasing the volume of mutual trade and economic ties between the two countries in the context of regional integration.

M.Safari also stressed Iran’s readiness to increase cooperation in the field of cargo transportation along the North-South corridor, the importance of which is growing, and to intensify cooperation in the field of oil, gas and electricity, as well as their transit and swap supplies.
