On the instructions of the President of Turkmenistan, the governmental delegation is on a working visit to Tehran on January 8-9 this year to hold working meetings on the important aspects of relations between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.Today, the delegation of Turkmenistan led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a series of meetings in the government of Iran.During talks with Iranian Oil Minister Javad Ovji, the sides discussed expansion of trade and economic partnership, as well as exchanged views on the implementation of interstate agreements on priority areas of cooperation between the two countries.It was particularly noted that cooperation in oil and gas, as well as in the oil refining industry are the priority areas of bilateral cooperation. In this regard, the sides expressed the need for further intensification of effective partnership in trade, economic and energy fields.On the same day, the Turkmen delegation held talks with the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, Rostam Ghasemi. During the meeting, given the huge potential of the two countries, a special emphasis was placed on the development of cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, industry, transport and communications, in particular, expansion of international and regional road and rail transport.
The Turkmen side emphasized that Iran is one of the main trade and economic partners for Turkmenistan. An important role in intensifying the work belongs to the Joint Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation, the 16th meeting of which was held in Tehran in October last year.On the same day, the government delegation of Turkmenistan held a meeting with Vice President of IRI Mohsen Rezaei, during which they discussed current issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.In this regard, the parties noted the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Iran, which is based on a mutually trusting political and diplomatic dialogue and effective trade and economic cooperation.
In the afternoon, the delegation of Turkmenistan, within the framework of a working visit, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahiyan.During the meeting, the sides discussed the priority issues of the bilateral agenda. The sides also noted the coincidence or similarity of positions of the two countries on key aspects of global and regional policy of mutual interest, particularly in the field of ensuring universal peace, security and sustainable development.The delegations of Turkmenistan and Iran expressed the need to further expand and strengthen bilateral partnership in politics, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
