Turkmenistan delegation attended the XV World Forestry Congress

The XV World Forestry Congress on the ministerial level began its work on 2 May 2022 in Seoul. The President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in also took part in the opening ceremony of the Congress.

Participants from 144 countries took part in this international event, which included 33 ministers and deputy ministers, heads of international organizations, scientific community, Ambassadors and diplomats in Seoul, and in total around 12,500 participants attended the event.

A special plenary session named “high-level meeting between Korea – Central Asia” was arranged within the framework of the Congress, where the Minister of Korea Forest Service Mr. Choi Byeongam and the heads of the agriculture spheres from the Central Asian countries participated.

During the video message, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment Protection of Turkmenistan Mr. A. Altyev emphasized that under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan our country widely implements the principles of “green” economy in all spheres, where through promotion of ecology diplomacy, the protection of the environment is one of the most important directions of state policy.

An international certificate by the UN Economic Commission for Europe presented to the city Ashgabat for implementing the international initiative “Trees in Cities”, which supports and contributes to the tree planting activities, is clear example of this.

The XV World Forestry Congress will continue until 6 May 2022.
