On 23 March 2026, a meeting was held in Tashkent between the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, Berkeli Berkeliyev.
During the dialogue, which took place on the sidelines of the international forum “Italy – Central Asia (C5) + Azerbaijan,” the parties discussed the further development of bilateral cooperation, the exchange of experience in the agricultural sector, and the expansion of joint projects, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan.
The sides emphasized the need for the effective use of existing opportunities in the agricultural field between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, particularly in the area of cotton seed production and strengthening cooperation in the introduction of high-yielding varieties.
Special attention was also paid to accelerating digitalization processes in agriculture, the introduction of modern technologies, and the widespread application of innovative approaches in the industry. The parties exchanged views on promoting joint initiatives and sharing expertise in this area.
During the conversation, the necessity of implementing pilot projects for the professional development of farmers and their training based on modern agricultural technologies was noted. It was highlighted that this would increase agricultural efficiency, improve crop yields, and expand export potential.
In conclusion, the parties expressed their readiness for the consistent continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation, the implementation of new joint projects, and collaborative efforts toward the modernization of agriculture.
