Türkiye continues to draw crowds with a packed schedule of festivals and outdoor performances. The country’s flagship Culture Route Festivals, a prestigious member of the European Festivals Association (EFA), return this year with their largest footprint to date, spanning 26 cities. This months-long series will take both local and global audiences on a unique cultural journey, offering a deep dive into the nation’s heritage.
Organised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Türkiye Culture Route Festivals were first launched in 2021 with the Beyoğlu Culture Route Festival and have since expanded rapidly across the country. By 2025, the festival had reached 20 cities, featuring 9,645 events and bringing together 50,400 artists throughout 180 days. The 2026 season is set to mark the most ambitious edition to date, extending to 234 days and spanning 26 provinces nationwide.The 2026 lineup includes Şanlıurfa, Aydın, Mersin, Eskişehir, Manisa, Trabzon, Samsun, Bursa, Sakarya, Van, Konya, Nevşehir, Malatya, Erzurum, Ordu, Çanakkale, Kayseri, Kahramanmaraş, Ankara, İstanbul, Gaziantep, Diyarbakır, Mardin, İzmir, Antalya, and Adana. The six cities to join the 2026 calendar this year are Aydın, Eskişehir, Kahramanmaraş, Mersin, Ordu, and Sakarya.
Celebrating Cultural Heritage
The 2026 edition is set to kick off in Şanlıurfa on April 25 and will conclude in Adana on November 15. Throughout the 26-city circuit, thousands of events, ranging from concerts and exhibitions to theatre, opera, talks, and workshops, will transform Türkiye into a massive cultural stage for months.
Special activities for children will also be a cornerstone of the festival. Various workshops, stage performances, outdoor play areas, and educational programmes will ensure that younger generations engage with the arts at an early age. All events will showcase Türkiye’s rich cultural diversity by spotlighting local heritage.
Gastronomy Under the Spotlight
Another highlight of the 2026 programme is the introduction of new gastronomy initiatives. Expert advisory boards will be established to identify key culinary landmarks in each festival city, ensuring that the unique food culture of every province is represented authentically. These boards will define each city’s signature flavours and shape dedicated gastronomic routes.In addition, a “City Chef” will be designated in each province to curate event content and promote local culinary heritage. Through this structured approach, regional food culture will be showcased in a more cohesive and impactful way, offering visitors immersive experiences through workshops, tasting events, and curated culinary trails.

Expanding the Horizon
Türkiye Culture Route Festivals will maintain its status as one of the world’s longest-running cultural and artistic events. Inspired by Anatolia’s rich ancient cultural heritage, the festivals, are expected to span to all parts of the country overtime. Looking ahead, the festival is set to expand to 32 cities in 2027 with the inclusion of Balıkesir, Denizli, Hatay, Kocaeli, Muğla, and Tekirdağ.
