The visit of the government delegation of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan

On January 17, 2022, in accordance with the instructions of the President of Turkmenistan, a working visit of the government delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers S. Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Uzbekistan took place.

During the visit, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

At the beginning of the meeting, S. Berdimuhamedov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the President of Uzbekistan. In turn, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his best wishes for peace and prosperity to the President and the people of Turkmenistan. During the meeting, the parties noted with satisfaction the high dynamics of the development of interstate relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which are growing stronger based on a trusting political dialogue at the highest state level.

Also during the visit, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov.

During the talks, the interlocutors considered a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The close interaction of the two countries in the international arena within the framework of international and regional organizations was emphasized.

Paying special attention to cooperation in the field of trade and the economy, the parties expressed interest in diversifying and increasing mutual trade turnover. In this regard, the importance of creating a border Turkmen-Uzbek trade zone, agreed upon during the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Tashkent on October 4-5, 2021, was emphasized. It was also noted that the priority areas of cooperation between the two states are the transport and energy sectors.

The parties expressed confidence that the traditionally established brotherly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, thanks to joint efforts, will continue to develop dynamically and deepen in the spirit of mutually beneficial partnership, for the benefit of our countries and peoples.

In addition, during the visit, a meeting of the governmental delegation of Turkmenistan was held at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan. At the meeting, topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of health protection were discussed and the need for the exchange of experience in the field of prevention of infectious diseases was expressed.

Tashkent also hosted a meeting of representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan with representatives of business circles of Uzbekistan. Following the results of this meeting, a number of documents between representatives of the private sector of the two countries were signed.
