Today, a phone conversation took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres. This was reported by the “Watan” news program.
As is known, in accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, a special state organizational committee was established to ensure the high-level implementation of events dedicated to the declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust. The first meeting of this committee was recently held, chaired personally by the National Leader of the Turkmen people. During the meeting, organizational issues related to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality were discussed. Instructions were also given to develop a concept for the events and priority areas for the International Year of Peace and Trust in consultation with the United Nations.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people expressed gratitude for the phone conversation and noted with warm feelings his meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, which took place in the summer of last year.
António Guterres emphasized the significant importance the United Nations attaches to cooperation with neutral Turkmenistan, which advocates for the strengthening of peace in the region and the world. He also highly praised Turkmenistan’s policy aimed at promoting global peace, prosperity, and sustainable development, as well as the country’s initiatives in these areas.
