The first Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the countries of Central Asia and the Russian Federation began its work in Ashgabat

On May 12, 2022, the first Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the countries of Central Asia and the Russian Federation began its work at the Congress Center of the capital of Turkmenistan, chaired by the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Before the start of the Forum, the participants laid flowers at the Monument to the Constitution of Turkmenistan.

At the opening ceremony of the Forum, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan G.M. Berdimuhamedov addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.

Then the Chairman of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States, Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation V.I. Matvienko delivered an opening speech.

The Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan M.S. Ashimbaev, Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic T.T. Mamytov, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan R. Emomali and Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan T.K. Narbayeva also spoke at the Forum.

As noted in the speeches, the dialogue in the “Central Asia-Russia” format is acquiring new dimensions, including parliamentary ones. In this context, the holding of the first Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the countries of Central Asia and the Russian Federation marks a new stage of interaction, opening up new opportunities and prospects in various fields.
