On November 30, 2021, the 14th Cooperation Forum “Central Asia – Republic of Korea” on the level of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs was held in Dushanbe.
The Forum was attended by the heads of foreign policy agencies of the countries of the Cooperation Forum “Central Asia – Republic of Korea”. The delegation of Turkmenistan was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov.
Four special items were included in the agenda of the current Forum. They are the following: cooperation in the spheres of forestry, “green” energy, health protection and digital technologies.
In the course of the Forum the heads of the delegations also discussed the issues of further fruitful cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea, taking into account the consequences of the pandemic, as well as regional and global processes.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov in his speech at the Forum having underlined consistent and targeted cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea, noted important role of the activation of political-diplomatic interaction of the states of this format on international arena.
The head of the foreign policy agency also reflected the activities of Turkmenistan on all aspects of the agenda of the current Forum. The contribution of the country into the development of “green” economy, including the expansion of the environmental component of such spheres as energy and industry was separately noted. Besides that, the significant issues of joint activities in the sphere of health service, including the contribution to the overall fight against the spread of coronavirus were raised.
Concerning the issues of ensuring world peace, security and sustainable development, R.Meredov noted that Turkmenistan welcomes and supports activities of international community aimed at achieving and strengthening stability and peace in the region of Asia and the Pacific, and measures to prevent and neutralize conflict situations.
In this connection, the Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted Turkmenistan’s firm commitment to effective and meaningful participation in the Cooperation Forum “Central Asia – Republic of Korea”.
In addition, within the framework of the 14th Cooperation Forum on November 29, in the virtual participation of the heads of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and business circles of the participating countries the first Business Forum of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea took place in Dushanbe.
