Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Georgia discussed issues of cooperation

On March 7, 2025, a meeting was held in Ashgabat between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Ms. Maka Botchorishvili, who arrived in Turkmenistan as part of a representative delegation of Georgia headed by the Prime Minister of the country.

At the beginning of the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of contacts at high and the highest levels in promoting interstate relations, in particular the current visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze to Turkmenistan.

The Ministers noted with satisfaction the active development of relations between the two countries both in a bilateral format and within the framework of international structures, primarily the UN. In this regard, joint events for the current year, declared upon the initiative of Turkmenistan as the International Year of Peace and Trust in accordance with the UN General Assembly resolution, were discussed.

The sides expressed their support for continued interaction between the foreign policy ministries of two countries through active dialogue and regular consultations at the level of heads of departments and heads of ministries.

In the same day, the Ministers signed the Program of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia for 2025-2026.
