Italian Language Week 2025 in Ashgabat: Strengthening Cultural and Educational Ties

From October 14 to 19, 2025, Ashgabat will host the Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo (Italian Language Week in the World), a global initiative that celebrates and promotes the Italian language and culture in over 100 countries. As part of this worldwide event, a series of seminars and cultural activities will be organized at state institutes, universities, and educational centers throughout the capital.

This initiative, supported by the Embassy of Italy in Turkmenistan, represents an important opportunity to further strengthen the cultural and educational cooperation between Italy and Turkmenistan. It reflects the Embassy’s ongoing commitment to fostering dialogue and exchange through language, education, and cultural diplomacy.

A key milestone of this year’s program is the official launch of the CELI (Certificati di Conoscenza della Lingua Italiana) certification in Turkmenistan for the very first time. The CELI is an internationally recognized exam that assesses Italian language proficiency. Interested students can now take the test locally.

In addition to the Italian Language Week, the Embassy of Italy in Ashgabat continues to engage in various initiatives—ranging from academic partnerships and student exchange programs to cultural events such as concerts, exhibitions, and film screenings—all aimed at deepening the mutual understanding and friendship between the Italian and Turkmen peoples.

The Settimana della Lingua Italiana 2025 not only celebrates the beauty of the Italian language but also highlights the shared values of learning, culture, and international cooperation.
