Impact of the WTO accession of women entrepreneurs

The EU Delegation to Turkmenistan discussed the purpose of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the process of its accession and the advantages that it opens for its member states.
The event took place on 2 September 2022 with participation of over 50 women entrepreneurs who took part in the EU-funded programmes, including Ready4Trade (ITC) and Advice for small businesses (EBRD).

The presentation of WTO was delivered by the ITC associate programme officer Daria Karman followed by the question and answer sessions.

Further representative of the Ministry of Trade of Turkmenistan delivered a presentation on the existing trade and economic agreements.

Participants noted that the event was timed very well and helped to raise awareness of the local entrepreneurs about the process of WTO accession and their potential role in it. It was also noted that the presence of the national agency involved into the process of WTO access helped to clarify questions on the current status of the negotiations between the Government of Turkmenistan and WTO.
