On December 14, 2025, a delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov took part in the 11th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), held in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The forum, held under the theme “UNAOC: Two Decades of Dialogue for Humanity: Advancing a New Era of Mutual Respect and Understanding in a Multipolar World,” brought together representatives of national governments, youth and women leaders, as well as representatives of civil society institutions and media organizations from around the world.
The event is intended to serve as an effective platform for the exchange of views, ideas, and experiences aimed at strengthening global peace, promoting dialogue, and advancing intercultural values.
In his address, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov emphasized the growing importance of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations amid the crisis of trust and polarization in international relations, noting the consonance of its activities with Turkmenistan’s initiative to proclaim 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust. In this context, he presented Turkmenistan’s initiatives proposed for implementation jointly with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, including the promotion of a culture of peace and mediation, the development of humanitarian and intercultural dialogue, the establishment of regional and youth platforms for peacebuilding cooperation, as well as the strengthening of trust and mutual understanding among peoples.
As a result of the forum, the Riyadh Declaration was adopted, defining the next stage in the development of the Alliance.
