On May 12, 2020, the consultations in videoconference format between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Romania were held.
The Turkmen side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan V.Hajiyev. The Romanian delegation was led by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania D.Neculǎescu.
During the talks, the parties reiterated the adherence of two countries to the development of Turkmen-Romanian relations in political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The significance of regular high-level contacts, as well as the collaboration between the external policy agencies of the two countries was noted.
The constructive collaboration in the framework of international organization, primarily the UN, EU and OSCE was discussed. The diplomats stated the mutual support of international initiatives. Speaking about the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan on the provision of uninterrupted international transport flow in extraordinary situations, the parties underlined the constructive role of Turkmenistan in the process of overcoming the impacts of the pandemic in the region and in the world.
The parties spoke about the importance of Turkmen-Romanian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, as well as about the necessity of organizing the online-meetings between the representatives of state and private sector. The project of the Intergovernmental Agreement on the Establishment and Implementation of the International Transit-Transport Route “Caspian Sea – Black Sea” was discussed.
The interest of the parties in advancing the cooperation in the field of education was voiced.
