On December 4, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov had a meeting with the newly appointed UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan Narine Saakyan.
At the beginning of the meeting Rashid Meredov congratulated Narine Saakyan with the appointment to this responsible post of the UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan and wished her successes in the new assignment.
In the course of the constructive talk the sides underlined the effectiveness of the interaction of Turkmenistan with the UN Development Program and considered current and perspective projects, as well as talked about key directions of cooperation. Among the priority issues the parties discussed the joining of Turkmenistan to the WTO and the UNDP Cooperation Program in Turkmenistan for the years 2021-2025 in which the broad range of the priorities of joint activities, such as SDG, human rights, economic diversification, digitalization, climate and effectiveness of energy, health protection, social protection and others are reflected.
During the meeting the UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan presented to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan the copies of her credentials and expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for warm greetings and congratulations with the appointment to the responsible post. She also added that she will do her best for the development of cooperation between the UNDP and Turkmenistan in the interest of reaching sustainable development.
