1146 people were admitted as citizens in Turkmenistan

On September 23, 2024, during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan via the digital system, the esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the Decree “On admission to the citizenship of Turkmenistan” and the Decree “On the issuance of a residence permit in Turkmenistan”. According to these documents, 1146 persons permanently residing in the territory of the country and without citizenship were admitted to the citizenship of Turkmenistan, 134 foreign citizens were given permission to live in our country. This is a clear evidence of the country’s continued commitment to the norms of international law, as well as a clear demonstration of the successful implementation of migration policy.
Having acceded to the main international legal documents of the UN, including the Conventions “On the Status of Refugees”, “On the Status of Stateless Persons”, “On the Reduction of Statelessness”, Turkmenistan remains committed to its obligations, thereby confirming the humanitarian policy of the esteemed President.
In order to implement certain activities of the National Action Plan for the Elimination of Statelessness in Turkmenistan, in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, as well as in the framework of cooperation with other public international organizations and relevant government agencies, certain activities are successfully implemented in accordance with the National Action Plan for 2019-2024 years.
