World Track Cycling Championship will be held in Ashgabat

An online meeting of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan B.Matiev with the President of the International Cyclists Union (UCI) David Lapartien took place.

Representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Sports and Youth Policy, the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan also attended the meeting on behalf of the Turkmen side.

The parties expressed the need to further intensify bilateral cooperation, where there is a solid practice of productive cooperation. In this context, the possibilities of organizing and holding the World Championship in track cycling in 2021 in Ashgabat were also considered.

As is known, in 2018, the International Cyclists Union headed by David Lapartien transferred the right to host the World Championship to Ashgabat. This is due to the fact that one of the most modern cycle tracks, equipped with the appropriate equipment and security system, operates in the Olympic town of the Turkmen capital.
