Turkmenistan Ready to Expand Cooperation with Japan

The National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan, Akihisa Nagaşima. During the meeting, the importance of mutual visits in strengthening bilateral relations was emphasized. The Japanese official fondly recalled the National Leader’s visits to Japan, highlighting their significance in fostering diplomatic ties. Both parties affirmed that relations between Turkmenistan and Japan are actively developing in political, economic, trade, and cultural sectors.

The National Leader of Turkmenistan stressed that, as a country rich in natural gas resources, Turkmenistan places great importance on diversifying its gas export routes and developing the gas processing industry. It was noted that Japanese companies have been successfully operating in Turkmenistan’s gas and chemical industries for many years. Additionally, the meeting highlighted the role of jointly constructed industrial facilities in Turkmenistan’s export sector. The National Leader reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Japan.
