Turkmenistan invites British business coorperation in energy field

On 26 February 2026, at Lancaster House in London, a Turkmen delegation headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, participated in a business reception with representatives of the United Kingdom’s business community.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Lammy, delivered welcoming remarks, emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic ties with Central Asia and developing sustainable partnership projects.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Central Asian countries then delivered brief statements.

In his speech, Minister R.Meredov noted that the current stage is characterized by the transformation of the global architecture of trade and energy, as well as the formation of new transport corridors and emerging centers of economic attraction. It was emphasized that Central Asia and Turkmenistan occupy an important place in these processes.

Special attention was given to the country’s energy potential. It was noted that Turkmenistan possesses some of the world’s largest natural gas reserves and has for many years confirmed its status as a reliable and responsible partner. In the context of European countries revising their energy strategies, readiness was expressed for substantive dialogue on new supply routes, long-term contracts, and joint projects, including in the field of renewable energy.

The Turkmen side highlighted the country’s role in the development of the Middle Corridor and the modernization of transport infrastructure, including the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, which creates additional opportunities for British business.

It was also noted that Turkmenistan is consistently developing a favorable investment environment that includes legal guarantees, international arbitration mechanisms, and special economic regimes. Priority areas identified include energy, petrochemicals, the agro-industrial sector, technology, and infrastructure.

In conclusion, readiness was expressed to build long-term partnership based on mutual respect and mutual benefit.
