Turkmenistan expands cooperation with international organizations in the field of labor

As part of its participation in the 113th session of the International Labour Conference, held in Geneva on June 5, the delegation of Turkmenistan held a number of bilateral meetings with representatives of the International Organization of Employers (IOE) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).

Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan M. Sylapov discussed with the Secretary General of the International Organization of Employers Roberto Suarez-Santos ways to expand cooperation, including technical support and the involvement of national employers in international processes. The Turkmen side confirmed its readiness for further cooperation with the International Organization of Employers, emphasizing the importance of joint initiatives and the active participation of business in reforming the social sphere.

During the meeting with the head of the International Trade Union Confederation Luc Triangle, the emphasis was placed on the development of a tripartite partnership between the state, employers and trade unions. Steps to further expand the dialogue were discussed, including possible membership of trade unions of Turkmenistan in the International Trade Union Confederation. The activity of national trade unions in international and regional formats, as well as their participation in the formation of the country’s social policy, were noted.

The day before, on June 4, during the plenary session of the 113th session of the International Labor Conference (ILC), in his speech M. Sylapov emphasized Turkmenistan’s commitment to the principles of decent work, social justice and partnership.

The Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population noted the relevance of the ILO global agenda and its compliance with the strategic directions outlined in the National Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan until 2052.
