Turkmenistan and Switzerland abolish visa requirements for holders of service and diplomatic passports

On December 12, 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Turkmenistan (with residence in Baku) Thomas Stähli, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the celebrations in honor of the International Day of Neutrality.

During the meeting, the sides considered favorable fields for cooperation between the two countries in political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

After the talks, bilateral documents were signed,

  • namely the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Swiss Federal Council on mutual abolition of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports,
  • as well as the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Swiss Federal Council on the readmission of persons residing without authorisation.
