Turkmenistan and Romania discussed inter-parliamentary cooperation

On February 27, 2024, in the building of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania, Ambassador A.Annaev had a meeting with the Co-Chairman of the Romanian part of the inter-parliamentary Turkmen-Romanian friendship group, deputy Anquetil-Károly KOLCSÁR.

The meeting was organized at the initiative of the Turkmen side in order to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation and plans for the near future. In this context, the main emphasis of the meeting was on the need to intensify interparliamentary dialogue.

Emphasizing the importance of the Turkmen-Romanian interparliamentary friendship group operating between the two countries since 2017, the parties agreed to exchange the composition of national groups of the interparliamentary friendship group as soon as possible and consider the possibility of organizing their next meeting in April or in June this year in Ashgabat.

The Ambassador, touching on the topic of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, noted that in 2022 in the city of Bursa, Republic of Turkey, at the 39th meeting of the permanent council of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) on the proposal of the Turkmen side, participants unanimously supported the proposal in honor of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi to declare 2024 “The Year of the great poet and thinker of the Turkic world – Magtymguly Fragi”.

In this context, the parties agreed to hold joint events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi.
