Turkmen Carpet: List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO

One will recall that on December 12, 2019, at the 14th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, the decision to inscribe the traditional Turkmen carpet making art of Turkmenistan in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was unanimously approved.

As is known, traditional carpet weaving is an integral part of the socio-cultural life of the country and is considered a sign of the general cultural identity of the population of Turkmenistan. The Turkmen carpet has gone through centuries, reflecting milestones of history and spiritual and moral values ​​of the people in its ornaments.
