Formula 1® announced the 2027 FIA Formula One World Championship™ calendar. The FORMULA 1 TURKISH GRAND PRIX will begin with practice and qualifying on 1-2 October, followed by the race on 3 October 2027, when five red lights will be out at TOSFED İstanbul Park following a long absence.Türkiye’s return to Formula 1® was initially announced in April at a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Now, after six years, high speed of Formula 1® will once again bring the world’s best drivers and thousands of fans together in İstanbul, one of the world’s most stunning metropolises that connects continents. The TURKISH GRAND PRIX will unfold at TOSFED İstanbul Park, which is among the championship’s most technically demanding tracks, for the 10th time.
TOSFED İstanbul Park: A Track Built for Speed and Precision
Drivers will tackle TOSFED İstanbul Park’s 5.3-kilometre circuit offering plenty of overtaking opportunities, with dramatic elevation changes that affect both driver and car performance. In particular, the multi-apex Turn 8, which brought TOSFED İstanbul Park worldwide fame, will challenge them with its ultra-fast left-hander taken at incredible speeds, requiring great balance and placing significant lateral loads on both drivers and tyres. At the same time, fans will witness competitive racing and dramatic moments on the circuit, thanks to its exciting combination of speed, rhythm, and technical complexity.With Formula 1® returning to Türkiye, İstanbul will once again host one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events. The event is expected to contribute significantly to sports tourism, the city’s economy, international media visibility, and Türkiye’s brand value.
TGA’s “Catch It If You Can” film draws global attention
With the race date finalised, a new phase has also begun in international promotional efforts for the FORMULA 1 TURKISH GRAND PRIX 2027. The promotional film “Catch It If You Can,” produced by the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) under the coordination of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, has surpassed 571 million views.
In the coming period, İstanbul’s global visibility will be further strengthened through international media projects, digital campaigns, collaborations with international content creators, and a global promotional push centred on İstanbul.The FORMULA 1 TURKISH GRAND PRIX was reinstated on the racing calendar as a result of TOSFED’s long-standing efforts and initiatives, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Formula 1® races will be held at TOSFED İstanbul Park organised by TOSFED, between 2027 and 2031.
