On May 10, 2022, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikayil Chingiz oglu Jabbarov.
Expressing gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting, the guest conveyed warm greetings and congratulations to the head of Turkmenistan from President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of his election to the highest state post, emphasizing that the wise choice of the Turkmen people reflects the success of the ongoing policy of development, continuity and prosperity of the fraternal country.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed his best wishes to the top leadership and people of the friendly state, noting the commitment of Turkmenistan, which has always valued good relations with its closest neighbors, to the course of long-term cooperation with Azerbaijan on an equal and mutually beneficial basis.
Emphasizing the strategic nature of interstate cooperation in the political, trade-economic, energy, transport-communication, scientific-technical, cultural-humanitarian and other fields, the interlocutors stated the importance of strengthening the role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission on Economic Cooperation as a coordinating body for the development of relations in various directions.
Particular attention was paid at the meeting to the issues of using the favorable geographical position of the two neighboring states, which creates favorable prerequisites for the effective addition of efforts in the implementation of projects to form transcontinental transit and transport corridors that provide optimally advantageous land and sea routes for transporting goods, and their integration into the international transport infrastructure.
A separate emphasis was placed on the importance of building up cooperation in the energy sector, which is strategic for the national economies of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
At the end of the meeting, confidence was expressed that Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations would continue to be strengthened on a long-term and constructive basis, filled with new content.
