The National Holiday of the Turkmen Horse Celebrated in Ankara

On April 24, 2026, a ceremonial event dedicated to the National Holiday of the Turkmen Horse was held in Ankara, organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Türkiye.

The event was attended by experts in horse breeding, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, students from Turkmenistan studying at higher education institutions in Türkiye, as well as media representatives.

During the speeches, it was noted that the year 2026 in Turkmenistan is being held under the motto: “Independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan – homeland of purposeful heavenly horses.” It was emphasized that the image of a purposeful horse symbolizes the country’s modern pace of development, its aspiration for new achievements, and its dynamic movement forward. This motto has set the direction for the near future, becoming a guideline for the implementation of political, cultural, and social events throughout 2026.

Special attention in the speeches was given to the significance of the Akhal-Teke horse as a national treasure. It was noted that in the new historical era, thanks to the tireless efforts of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov true admirers of the “heavenly” horses, distinguished riders, and promoters of equestrian sports the Akhal-Teke horse has become one of the key symbols of Turkmenistan, embodying the inseparable connection between times and generations.

As part of the event, a photo exhibition dedicated to Akhal-Teke horses was also organized, featuring unique images reflecting the beauty, grace, and historical significance of this renowned horse breed.
