The Head of the Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN Office held a meeting with the Director General of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC)

On April 9, 2024, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva Vepa Hajiyev met with the Director General of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) Alexey Borodin, who is on a working visit to Geneva.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Regional Commonwealth in the field of communications, which act as an interstate body for coordinating the CIS in the field of communications and information.

A separate issue of discussion was the possibility of holding major international events in the field of information and communication technologies in Turkmenistan.

Priorities and practical steps in the field of communication were also discussed, both at the national level and in the international arena, which helps promote a coordinated position of the countries of the region in specialized UN agencies, such as the International Telecommunication Union and the Universal Postal Union, including other international regional organizations. The possibility of holding joint events with the RCC at the Geneva site was noted.

The issue of expanding the number of full members of this regional structure, as well as active cooperation between telecom operators, representatives of research organizations in the communications/ICT industry and other organizations operating in the field of info-communications were also discussed.
