The Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Cuba met in New York

On May 27, 2026, on the sidelines of the high-level open debates of the United Nations Security Council, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.

During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Turkmen-Cuban cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Special attention was paid to cooperation between the two countries within international organizations, primarily the United Nations.

The ministers emphasized the importance of maintaining a regular dialogue between the foreign ministries and noted the considerable potential for expanding cooperation in such areas as healthcare, agriculture, sports, and tourism.

The ministers also stressed the importance of intensifying contacts between the business communities of the two countries and considered possibilities for organizing joint economic events. In this regard, the expediency of expanding the legal and contractual framework of trade and economic cooperation was noted.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening the friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Cuba based on the principles of mutual respect and trust.
