The delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the Summit of Mayors of the «City of the Future» in Geneva

From September 30 to October 1, 2024 in Geneva, the delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the Future Cities Summit of Mayors, organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

The Turkmen side was represented by the hyakim of Avaza etrap D.Jumayev. In his speech, D.Jumayev noted the achievements of Turkmenistan in the field of sustainable urban development and shared successful projects aimed at improving the quality of life and creating modern conditions for the population.

Particular attention was paid to the project of the «smart» city of Arkadag, which became an example of the application of advanced solutions in the field of urban planning and sustainable development. The «Avaza» National Tourist Zone was also presented, where a modern infrastructure for recreation and recreation has been created.

The delegation of Turkmenistan proposed to initiate an international dialogue on water resources management and the development of urban youth. In particular, it was proposed to develop a new legal instrument on water resources management under the auspices of the UNECE, as well as to hold an international youth meeting in the city of Arkadag.
