A meeting was held at the Central Office of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan with representatives of the International Trade Center (ITC), Ms. Adelina Harunzhene, Mr. Alexey Bondarenko, and ITC representatives in Turkmenistan.
The European Union-funded International Trade Center project “Turkmenistan: Enhancing Trade Stability and Integration” which was designed to support Turkmenistan in the process of joining the World Trade Organization was launched earlier this year.
Implementation of the part of the said project related to facilitation of customs procedures was the main topic discussed at the meeting. The parties discussed areas such as digitalization of customs operations, organization of training activities on the use of risk management system, introduction of electronic queue management system (eQMS), and at the same time exchanged views on priority areas of future cooperation.
As part of the visit of the delegation of the International Trade Center to Turkmenistan, it was also noted that a three-day training event was planned for representatives of relevant ministries and branches of Turkmenistan on the concept of the Agreement on Trade Facilitation of the World Trade Organization and the concept of the National Committee on Trade Facilitation.
