The Ambassadors of Central Asia and Mongolia met with the Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belgium

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Belgium Sapar Palvanov, together with the ambassadors of Central Asian and Mongolian countries accredited in Brussels, held a meeting with Peter De Roover, Chairman of the Belgian House of Representatives.

Opening the meeting and speaking on behalf of the Central Asian countries, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan stressed that today Central Asia is a region of high cohesion, mutual trust and constructive interaction. He noted that the countries of the region consistently develop joint approaches on all issues affecting common interests and strive to find collective solutions aimed at preventing any conflict situations.

The Ambassador noted that Central Asia is currently one of the few regions in the world where there are no interstate conflict issues. According to him, this became possible thanks to the political will of the leaders of the countries of the region, their close and sincere cooperation, as well as awareness of their shared responsibility for stability and development.

During the meeting, a thorough exchange of views took place on the development of relations between Belgium and the countries of Central Asia, including bilateral cooperation between Belgium and Turkmenistan. The participants noted the increasing importance of Central Asia in modern international conditions, as well as the growing interest of European countries in deepening cooperation with the region.

Special attention was paid to the development of interparliamentary cooperation. In this context, the possibility of holding a meeting of the parliamentary friendship group between the parliaments of Belgium and Turkmenistan in Belgium in March this year was considered, and the importance of enriching this format with practical content was emphasized.

The parties also discussed promising areas of cooperation, including issues of transport connectivity, energy, climate and education. A special emphasis was placed on the importance of developing contacts between people, educational institutions, youth and representatives of cultural circles as a key basis for the formation of sustainable, trusting and long-term partnerships between countries.

Following the meeting, mutual interest was confirmed in further developing parliamentary dialogue and expanding cooperation between Belgium and Central Asian countries, including Turkmenistan, in a wide range of areas of mutual interest.
