Strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan approved

The signing of the Protocol on Exchange of Instruments of Ratification of the Treaty on Strategic Partnership between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan took place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.

From the Afghan side, the Document was signed by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Haneef Atmar.  The Document was signed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan in Afghanistan H.Ovezov on behalf of Turkmenistan.

This Document is aimed at the expansion of a comprehensive package of interstate and intergovernmental agreements between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.

Taking into consideration the principles of neutrality policy, the Government of Turkmenistan is carrying out active and determined work with the Government of Afghanistan and the main partners on peaceful settlement of Afghan issues and strengthening of peace, security and sustainable development in the whole region.

In recent times, the parties actively reinforce the contractual-legal base of bilateral collaboration.  In this context, it is important to note that in the end of September of current year, a number of significant documents were signed in Kabul aimed at the facilitation of further implementation of joint infrastructural projects between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.
